John Powers – american architect, co-curator of the non-profit art project Omi International Arts Centre.
John Powers is author of sculptures, installations and architectural objects which are inspired by methods of post-painting abstraction, post-minimalism and mass culture. Meticulous and precisely built, his abstract geometrical constructions push the limits of formal artistic language. His specific object appear to be a result of cold and precise computed calculation, but in repeated addition of forms-blocks one may clearly see the intention of a person- creator. His large-scale installation often consist of thousands of separate, tightly intertwisted blocks of polystyrene or wood which resemble rows of soldiers marching against the aim.
